Approximately five years ago, my family was faced with elderly parents who were in need of Home care. We selected a home care company to fulfill our needs but quickly we found out that there was a gap that needed to be filled. Non-medical home care companies are very limited on what they can do for the elderly beyond basic care such as bathing, dressing, preparing meals, light housework and medication reminders. We felt we needed more help- we needed someone who could oversee their medical care and advise us on a number of issues. A manager for the home care company recommended Jan Norby, an RN and owner of Geriatric Health and Care Management. Jan has been a valuable resource in this regard. She has assisted us over the years with the management of my parents prescriptions, refills, recommending newer more effective drug therapies, taking them to doctor’s appointments and helping us with even wound care when necessary. She always brightened their day when she stopped by- they really loved her. When the needs arose, Jan recommended hospice care including an inpatient hospice facility for both my parents. The hospice facility she recommended provided loving, caring support to my parents in their final days. And, Jan was with my mother at the hospice center when she passed away . I will be eternally grateful to her for that.Jan’s assistant, Valerie Degati exhibits the same loving, caring approach that Jan does.
Geriatric Health and Care Management receives my highest recommendation.
